Eric Melin and guest co-host Whitney Mathews (www.whitneymathews.com) review Mickey Rourke’s comeback role in Darren Aronofsky’s new movie “The Wrestler.” Co-starring Marisa Tomei as the stripper who wins his heart and Evan Rachel Wood as his estranged daughter, “The Wrestler” is a gripping, realistic walk through some important moments in the life of fictional 1980s professional wrestling icon Randy “The Ram” Robinson. It may not be the WWE (WWF) or ECW, but Aronofsky’s movie is about as hardcore as it gets.

Can’t wait to see this. To bad it doesn’t open here until January.
I guess Macon Greyson (friends of ours from Dallas that have played several shows with Pendergast) has a song on the soundtrack for this movie. Looking forward to seeing it.
has anybody else seen this yet. i was fortunate enough to be in new york over a week around new year’s and was able to see it. all i can say is wow. the performances here are amazing. i didn’t see actors playing characters, i saw people. it felt to me like watching these people in real life going through all these hardships. rejection, loss, heartbreak (literally as well). i was definitely looking forward to this film for a while as i’ve been a big fan of aronofsky’s work for a long time but this movie flat out blew me away. managed to draw out a few tears from this movigoer’s eyes. well deserved golden globe for Rourke. hopefully it opens somewhere around here soon so i can see it again (and probably again).
